Story:

On a mission to Mars Captain Black an agent of SPECTRUM (a organisation that helps to protect earth) discovers an alien city. Mistakenly believing he is under attack Captain Black gives the order to destroy the city. However after the attack the city is rebuilt before their eyes. Then came the warning, a race called the Mysterons vowed revenge on earth. It would be slow, it would be a war of nerves.

The Mysterons have incredible powers they can recreate any object or person, then control them or it, however they must destroy the target first. One of the first targets for this process was Captain Black who became their key agent on Earth.

Captain Scarlet and his partner Captain Blue are field operatives of SPECTRUM. They answer to Colonel White who can usually be found in the flying headquarters of SPECTRUM called Cloudbase. On one early mission Captain Scarlet was killed and remetabolised by the Mysterons but things did not go to plan as he gained his personality back and fought off their control. There was also one other side effect, fate had made him indestructible.
